Four things worth your time
Platform Guide
Where to sell what, and why the same item performs completely differently on Vinted, eBay, TikTok Shop and Facebook Marketplace. Includes a category-by-category match for everything GBG stocks, and a six-step method for choosing a platform for a new pack.
Pricing Calculator
A working tool, not an article. Put in your pack cost, unit count, packaging and platform fee, and it gives you the lowest price you can list at without losing money. Know that number before you ever accept an offer.
Listings Guide
How to write a listing that gets found and then gets bought - titles built from real search words, phone photography that works, descriptions that answer questions before they're asked, and how to diagnose a failing listing from its own view count.
Platform Safety Guide
The listing patterns that get reseller accounts restricted, how to grow without tripping them, what to do in what order if you're already restricted, and how to avoid the scams that target sellers rather than buyers.
The questions behind the guides
Pricing and profit
Start by working out your true cost: product cost, plus delivery and shipping, plus packaging, plus platform and payment fees, plus any other selling costs.
Then compare similar products on the platform you want to use, and pick a price that leaves a worthwhile margin without putting you outside the market completely.
No. There is no single markup that works for every product.
A low-cost clearance jewellery piece may take a larger percentage markup than a more expensive bag or an electronic item. Focus on the actual money left after your costs, not on a fixed percentage.
No. Any resale range shown is an estimate based on comparable products or market observations. What you actually sell for depends on platform, presentation, competition, demand, condition and timing.
The ones most often missed are packaging, postage, payment and platform fees, returns, promotional fees and discounts.
A sale is not automatically a profitable sale.
No. A £2 item can have a strong percentage margin but make only a few pounds per sale. A more expensive product may carry a smaller percentage markup but generate more cash profit.
Look at both the margin percentage and the actual pounds of profit.
Product listings
A strong listing answers the buyer's questions quickly:
- What is it?
- What condition is it in?
- What do I receive?
- What size, colour or specification is it?
- Why might I want it?
- How much is delivery?
- When will it arrive?
Use accurate titles, useful descriptions and clear photographs.
Real, clear photographs are usually worth it, because they show the buyer exactly what they are getting. Some platforms also have rules about stock or edited images, so check the one you are using. eBay, for example, requires listing photos to represent the item accurately and does not allow added marketing text or watermarks in listing images.
AI is useful for cleaning up a background or improving presentation, but the final image still has to represent the real product. Do not create colours, features, quantities or packaging the customer will not actually receive.
Not automatically. Check your photos, title, keywords, description, price, delivery, competition, and whether you chose the right platform.
Sometimes the listing needs improving rather than simply getting cheaper.
